John Pozer

Filmmaker, author, and educator living in Vancouver, Canada. Working as a writer, director, editor and producer, his films have competed at the world’s foremost festivals, including Cannes, Toronto, and Sundance. His awards include best first feature director for The Grocer’s Wife, and best television director for MTV’s comedy series, Sausage Party.

After beginning as an actor in musical theatre, John moved behind the camera as an independent filmmaker, television director and animation director for major networks, including The Disney Channel, MTV, YTV, CTV, CBC, and Fox Family. In his 30+ years of industry experience, he has told stories ranging from crime mysteries to teen comedies to supernatural dramas.

More than nine first-time feature directors emerged from his Grocer's Wife student film crew, along with many key creatives including Greg Middleton (cinematographer for Game of Thrones.) Building on his passion for sharing his knowledge, John began teaching film in 1993. He developed the first Low Budget Feature Filmmaking course and was recognized for Excellence in Teaching at Vancouver Film School. During his career as an educator, John has helped thousands of students pursue their passion for film and filmmaking.
